If you are looking for some great weekend family fun, look no further than your local agricultural fair! We had a brilliant day last Sunday at the Co. Louth Agricultural Fair, at the beautiful Belurgan Park. The weather fairies teased all day, but gave us gorgeous sunshine for the afternoon showing off the amazing work of the organizing committee.
In the morning drizzle we set up a 9 hole Crazy Golf course, Giant Chess, Giant Draughts, Giant Jenga and Connect 4 and our brand new Penalty Shoot Out – big hit! And then, miraculously, the sun came out and we had a busy stream of little and big visitors all day. Tiny tots were fascinated by the colourful Connect 4, toddlers had a ball running through the giant chess pieces, while all ages got stuck in to the crazy golf!
The real beauty of these old fashioned games is that they appeal to all ages, and encourage all ages to play together. Parents came to tell us they really appreciated the games area, where they could spend time with the kids away from the loud music and noise of other activity areas. A group of young teens spend most of the day perfecting their Penalty Shoot out, much to the delight of their parents! And it was just lovely to see so many happy, ice cream smeared faces, out enjoying a great day in the Irish countryside!
